Petaling Jaya, June 30, 2003 Amway (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Amway), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Main Board-listed Amway (Malaysia) Holdings Berhad intends to invest RM5 million in the next 12 months to strengthen its information technology infrastructure. The investment will include upgrading the companys main computer system, upgrading the digital link between its 10 regional distribution centres, incorporating a Business Information Warehouse hardware and software programme, improving office automation and enhancing its website called Amway2U.com which will launch its new and improved features today. The RM5 million investment is a strategic move for Amway because it brings tremendous benefits to our business by enhancing overall efficiency, said Low Han Kee, Managing Director of Amway when launching the new-look Amway2U web-site. To date, the value of orders for our products taken over the internet is more than 26% of total sales, or about RM100 million on an annualised basis. When Amway first launched Amway2U.com in July 2001, we had only 1,000 distributors who placed their orders via the internet. In the month of May this year, internet on-line ordering saw 5,000 distributors using our web-site to place their orders, a record for Amway. Amway distributors purchase products from the company through several channels such as walk-in, telephone, fax, AMTEL (Amways voice-activated response system) and over the internet via Amway2U.com. An average of about 2,300 distributors activates their internet accounts
every month and the monthly average number of orders received through
Amway2U.com is 18,000 orders valued at about RM10 million in sales. Embracing a more confident, contemporary yet down-to-earth feel, Amway2U.com is easier and faster to navigate with added features to help its distributors in a more efficient and effective manner. In conjunction with the launch of the new web-site, Amway will be running a promotion for its distributors in the month of July to encourage higher usage.
