Petaling Jaya, July 14, 2003 – It was something the 42 children from Rumah Tunas Harapan Amway had looked forward to and they enjoyed every bit of it. Their recent one-day outing of fun and entertainment was made possible by Amway (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Amway).

Wet, slippery and cold it may be, but for the children whose ages ranged from 8 to 17 years old, the ice skating session at Sunway Pyramid was probably the highlight of the day. For most of them, it was their first time in an ice skating rink. Squeals and shrieks of laughter were heard that Sunday morning as they tried to keep their balance and move on the icy surface.

After spending an enjoyable good hour at the rink, they then headed for lunch at a nearby hotel. Here, they were joined by Steve Van Andel, Chairman of Alticor Inc (parent company of Amway Corporation), Low Han Kee, Managing Director of Amway and Datin Seri Wan Noor bt Wan Daud, Chairman of Rumah Tunas Harapan Amway.

A clown and face painting session kept the kids entertained after they had tucked into the delicious spread.

Amway, whose ties with the home goes as far back as 1986, continued to support the home in Kuala Selangor with Low presenting a RM10,000 cheque to Datin Seri Wan Noor, witnessed by Steve. Steve later handed out goody bags to the kids and hampers containing Amway's Home Care products to the home.

A cluster of six homes, Rumah Tunas Harapan Amway was built with funds contributed by Amway. Children at the home live in a unique family-like environment and are cared for by foster parents. The home which opened in 1988, sits on 24 acres of land.
