AMWAY DONATES 9000 BAGS TO SCHOOLS NATIONWIDE

Petaling Jaya, 9 December 2004 - 12 year old classmates Mangleswary a/p Strydaran, Khairunniza Aimie bt. Roslan and Mohd. Fared bin Abdul Latif were amongst 9000 primary school children who are proud owners of bags courtesy of leading direct selling company Amway (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (Amway). Amway donated the durable, multi-compartment, black-coloured bags to 15 schools nationwide in line with its dedication to help children live healthier lives, both physically and mentally, through its One by One Campaign.

Mr. Low Han Kee, Managing Director of Amway said: "At Amway, we are dedicated to children's causes as we want to help them achieve their fullest potential. By contributing the bags, this is a physical contribution that we hope will indirectly facilitate the children's learning and development process in their school-going years."

Under the One By One Campaign, Amway is also actively organising a series of Happy Healthy Minds children's workshops and parenting seminars in the Klang Valley to promote positive mental health development amongst children.

Mangleswary a/p Strydaran, Khairunniza Aimie bt. Roslan and Mohd. Fared bin Abdul Latif, all from S.K. Sg. Way Petaling Jaya were seen exploring their new bags.

"The compartments are big enough to fit my text and exercise books. I can also neatly organise my pens, pencils, erasers and note pad in this bag," exclaimed Mangaleswary excitedly.

"This bag will be extremely useful when I need to walk to another classroom to attend lessons," said Khairunniza with a smile.

"My belongings will also remain intact as the bag can be zippered shut. I intend to use it for my tuition classes," added Mohd Fared shyly.

One of the headmistress of the recipient schools, Mrs. Tong Sew Teng of SRJK (C) Pui Chi, Kuala Selangor expressed her appreciation to Amway: "I'd like to applaud companies like Amway who believe in giving back to the local community. On behalf of my delighted students, I would like to thank Amway for their generous contribution. The bags are extremely practical and I am certain it will help them inculcate the good habits of organising and being tidy."

Amway has had a proud tradition of contributing to various children's causes since the mid-80s. One of their notable projects is pioneering the Tunas Harapan homes for underprivileged children in Kuala Selangor in 1987, which the company still maintains close ties with until today. Amway's 161,000 distributors nationwide are also encouraged to give back to their communities through the "One by One-Campaign for Children".
