Temerloh, 7 June 2007 - For Pn. Hasnah bt. Jalal, the hours of waiting for her son, thirteen year old Hasbullah b. Salihan, to complete his blood transfusion at the hospital was made a little more comfortable courtesy of Amway (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Amway).

The leading multi-level marketing company recently contributed 12 foldable chairs cum day beds valued at RM8000 to the Paediatric Day Care Centre (Day Care) of Hospital Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Temerloh (HoSHAS) as part of the company's long term commitment to nurture children's mental wellbeing under its One By One Campaign.

The chairs were handed over by Ms. Ting Fong Fong, Amway's Public Affairs Manager to Pn Nor Samsiah N. Abdullah, Deputy Director of HoSHAS.

According to Ting: "We appreciate the parents' sacrifice as they accompany their children for treatment at the hospital's Day Care and we hope to alleviate the boredom and discomfort of sitting on normal chairs through this contribution."

This donation follows Amway's earlier assistance to the hospital in January 2007. The company had refurbished HoSHAS's Day Care to create a more conducive environment for the children to recover in. The Day Care now sports a cheerful underwater sea theme, with friendly fishes, seahorses and octopuses designed to lift the spirits of the children who frequent it.

"I am thankful that I have a comfortable chair to rest in while my son completes his transfusion," commented Pn Hasnah as she sat on the day bed. Pn. Hasnah, whose son is a Thallasaemic, frequents the Day Care twice monthly for her son's blood transfusions. As each transfusion lasts at least 5 hours, she appreciates the fact that she has an option of putting her feet up anytime she is feeling tired.

Later on, Hasbullah and 39 other children at the Day Care dabbled in sand art with 20 Amway distributor volunteers present to lend a helping hand. The children were also entertained to a clown show during the same afternoon. Laughter was aplenty as the clown called upon the children, nurses and volunteers to assist with the magic tricks, impersonations and dancing contests.
